Dizzee Rascal

Maths & English

Dizzee Rascal

'Maths & English' is the third album from grime heavyweight Dizzee Rascal. The trademark abrasive beats and inspired lyrical reportage are still present, but this time the beats and the rhymes are bolstered by collaborations with artists as diverse as Shy FX and Lily Allen not forgetting production spots from his Dirtee Stank label signings Newham Generals. These witty collaborations, and a more up tempo approach to his tracks, makes Maths & English his strongest album yet. Dizzee explains,

“I wanted to make people dance, make people happy again. I started this album thinking the world’s shit,no one’s listening. Then I got happy again – I wanted to make club bangers.”

Whilst his single Sirens is more of a powerhouse project the rest of the album certainly does produce some club ‘bangers’ and it is this approach that is the driving force behind English & Maths. ’Pussyole (Old Skool)’’ is perhaps one of the most accessible tracks ever recorded by Dizzee Rascal making it a definitive floor filler for the summer. Dizzee’s party mode and cross over to more upbeat tracks sets him up the big time and  Maths&English is now being tipped  for a Mercury Prize.
